An Introduction to Laptop Batteries

One of the older batteries used in notebooks is the NiCad, but nothing nickel cadmium, which is very rarely used today. These nickel cadmium or NiCad batteries is much heavier when compared to laptop batteries that are used to day. These NiCad batteries are prone to memory effect and are not favourable, because it contains heavy metals. Now battery factory stopped production of such batteries. The nickel-metal hydride, or NiMH batteries are less likely to be prone to memory effect, but produces more energy compared with NiCad batteries. Yet most companies have stopped producing NiMH also.
The Lithium Ion batteries or Li-Ion is the most commonly used batteries used in laptops today and also in other digital devices such as Lithium Ion or Li-Ion batteries are compatible, offers excellent strength and less weight. Li-Ion batteries are very useful in smaller and lighter devices as digital cameras, mobile phones and, of course, on laptops. Another big advantage of Lithium Ion batteries is that they do not suffer memory effect at all! However, these batteries tend to lose the load quickly towards the end of its useful life. If that happens, then this is an indication that the battery must be replaced.
Here is useful information on portable batteries, laptop batteries are classified into " V " which means tension and " mAh & quot; which is the Milliamp-hours. Voltage is the rate of energy or power drawn from the battery to the laptop. The Milliamp-hour shows the course of time the battery. So if the battery has greater mAh / Milliamp-hour, then it means that the battery will last for a longer time. The batteries with different mAh / Milliamp hour-can be used for laptops, but you need to demand that the voltage rating is the same. You need to check with your laptop or hand you older laptop battery to make sure that is the same voltage rating. If you& 39;re using batteries of different voltage, then it can cause serious damage to your laptop.
Here are some useful tips to ensure better battery: Use the AC adapter whenever possible, try to reduce the settings for brightness on the screen backlight . Set Windows management of the maximum energy savings. Try turning off Autosave characteristics and turn off the automatic notification Insert the CD-ROM. Also disconnect any unused devices such as modems when not in use. Put you& 39;re laptop to Suspend or Hibernate feature when you& 39;re having a break.
